It is popular belief that Roberto Cassani 'escaped' the Italian musical establishment and found refuge in Scotland, where he gained 'cult' following and a reputation as a song-writing maverick.
From 2007 to 2011 this shiny-headed fella made lots of lovely people laugh, sing along and shake their bum.
He spread mirth in big festival fields, rowdy clubs, theatres, remote village halls, big city squares, massive greens and big old boats.
He played at the seaside, the mountains, the lochs and the islands, in the UK and in the USA.
He boogied smiles via the airways of both national radios and independent broadcasters.
He's had people jump on stage and in return he would jump down amongst them too.
He was a winner of the prestigious Burnsong and he was invited to perform at the Scottish Parliament (where he sang about women's knickers!).
He's had an unofficial Christmas number 1.
And yes, he has also recorded at the legendary 'Sun Studio' in Memphis, Tennessee.
In the autumn of 2011, Roberto decided to "retire" his one-man act, He had had a great time, but ultimately felt that it is better to stop while you're ahead.
His two solo albums remain available on iTunes and all digital retailers.
And that's it.
Nowadays, Roberto can be found playing double bass and writing songs with 'new-Scottish-folk' supergroup
'Kilmarnock Edition'
.
The 'Kilmarnock Edition's album will be recorded and released in 2012.
Meanwhile, please remember to be happy!
